It is becoming an increasing trend now for young women to wear Mink Bobbles in their hair. The bobbles are made from small pieces of Mink fur sewn up and threaded with elastic. Many women like the accessories as they do not pull on their hair like a conventional bobble, the bobbles are also sought after due to their striking colours and exquisite look.
The question is, is it right to wear fur as a hair accessory? Many say yes, Mink are horrid creatures but then others say absolutely not as they are one of gods creatures. It's not a debate I claim to have all the answers for but it's certainly worth putting the facts out there.
Much of the mink used nowadays comes from fur farms where the animals are bread for their fur, whilst this is arguably morally wrong this does help to minimise over harvesting of wild mink securing the future of the creatures. Obviously it would be easier to ban real fur however whilst there is demand there is little chance of that, if it were to be banned a black market trade of mink fur would almost certainlyerupt.
It's not only mink bobbles that have sprung up in recent years, there have also been an increase in demand for items such as full length coats, waistcoats and more recently mink capes. Many of the people buying these luxury items come from traveller background as the garments are a sign of their wealth and social standing.
