Modern Solutions For Garden Shade

The modern lifestyle has now seen the introduction of an outdoor lifestyle and the garden has now become an extension of living space for many homes

. One of the main issues that home owners face when they extend into their garden area is that many of the suburban areas have a real lack of trees so there is little natural shade. Here in this article we shall look at a modern solution to creating garden shade.

An ancient solution that is becoming very popular today is the shade sail, which originated with the Egyptians and Greeks. Large pieces of fabric were used to provide shade and quite often this fabric would have come from a sail. The Coliseum in Rome used this clever technique with canvas material to create shade for the people inside. The canvases that were used were so large that sailors from the local port had to bring them in to put them up.

Today modern shade sails that are used commonly for garden shade are far more durable and easy to manage. Often they are made from a material known as shade cloth and this begun in South Africa and Australia some of the hottest places on earth in the early nineties. But in more recent years people in Europe have found use for these attractive sun shades.

Garden temperatures with adequate garden shade can be reduced by around 30 per cent and remove the UV exposure by 90 per cent. Not only are the shade sails practical in the protection they provide from the sun but they also are aesthetically pleasing and add a modern look to any outdoor area. Shade sails can also be removed easily when they are not in use or if the weather is severe in winter months.

But it's not just garden shade that shade sails can be used for, they are also ideal for providing shade for school yards, patios, courtyards, poolside areas and any other outdoor space that needs an area away from the sun. Also it is not just people that are offered protection with shade sails, garden furniture that may have usually received UV damage can keep cool in the shade of a sail.

Finally if you are chopping for a shade sail to give you some garden shade there are many shapes and styles available on the market so that you can keep your garden style traditional. But for the more modern and fashionable gardens shade sails there are plenty of designs that will keep the ancient method updated.
