A first person shooter, which is still, despite modern game technology, advances, by far one of the most popular types of PC game. A classic example of the first person shooter in its finest form can be found with the game Modern Warfare 3. No other game to date has captured the gritty reality of warfare like this. It is loud and messy, with the threat of instant death around almost every corner.

Your role in the game rotates between being a sergeant in the US Army, fighting in an intense battle against an immensely sadistic, evil dictator in the Middle East, or assuming the mission as a private in the British elite fighting force, with the SAS carrying out a variety of covert assassination or infiltration missions in Eastern Europe.

With anything up to 100 soldiers on screen at once, the action is pretty full on, and your team mates who assist you throughout the game further reinforce the feeling of being part of an ongoing war. The realistic graphics aid the games real-life setting perfectly - if you were playing COD4 on a big enough screen, you would be convinced you were in your players army issue boots.

You are given two modern warfare 3 weapons as standard - usually a rifle and a pistol- but you pick up modern warfare 3 weapons from downed comrades or enemy soldiers, a feature which makes the range of armory available quite frightening.

There is no construction or building to be done, but there is still enough going on to satisfy the most eager of megalomaniacs. You have control over a few items at a time, which can be infantry, airborne, armor, or support. Tanks are easy prey to flying units, ground soldiers will get obliterated by artillery, and tactical nuclear strikes can take out your entire force in one go, so planning who needs to go where and when is vital.
