Drach Caves are pre-historic caves. These were formed in the Miocene epoch. There are 4 caves that are linked to each other; these are Luis Salvador, French cave, Black cave and White cave. This beautiful formation of nature has occurred because of the manner in which the sea enters the rock.
La Almudaina Royal Palace is a 13th century palace and the meaning of the name is citadel outside the city walls. During the reigns of Sancho I, Jaime I and Jaime II; this palace was the seat of the Majorca independent kingdom. Pedro IV made it a part of the Aragon kingdom. The existing palace was rebuilt by modifying the Moorish Fortress in 1281. The parts of this palace are rectangular tower, Kings Palace, Queens palace, Tinell hall, patios and Royal Chapel. Nowadays His Majesty, the King of Spain uses this for official ceremonies in summer.
Palma Market is a 15th century market built in Gothic style and an attractive civil building. The guildhall here is considered as the most beautiful building on this island. Guillem Sagrera constructed this building in 1426. The Consulado del Mar is a beautiful building and the Regional Governments headquarters. This is attractive with its Renaissance architecture and the Palma market building is separated by a garden.
San Francisco Monastery is a 13th century convent in Gothic style and its Gothic cloister has very slim columns which is one of its main features. In the church, you will find the tomb of Ramn Llull who was a theologian and philosopher.
Palma de Mallorca Cathedral is a 13th century Cathedral built in neo-gothic style facing the sea and the jewel of Gothic architecture. This was built on the Palmas old town city walls. The building construction began when Jaime II ruled this place. It contains 3 naves. Trinidad Chapel is in the main nave where the kings Jaime II & III remains have been laid to rest. The faade doors main and Mirador are beautified with Guillermo Sagreras sculptures. The Mirador door is decorated with vegetal and geometrical motifs.
Bellver Castle is 14th century castle of Gothic architecture and was used as a Royal residence by Jaime II. The castle is situated on the top of a hill. This castle has been used for different purposes at different times in its history. Originally this was the Royal residence of King Jaime II. However, it was converted as a mint in the 19th century.Other monuments in this place are - Hams Cave, Art Caves, Arab baths and maritime Trade Building.
