More Hats In Call Center Arena
When you make waves, be assured that others would like to cash in on that as well!
Its common knowledge that many countries with a tired and dying economy received a fresh lease of life with the call center business. The money that the BPO firms earned was in a currency higher on the conversion chart. This added as an extra boost to the financial earnings of the country. Governments sat up and decided to join the party. They helped the
call center services firms with facilities and infrastructure. The employment generation was a huge boost for the local administrators as well. The success soon went over the brim. Others were interested in the business outsourcing pie as well!
Countries like Egypt joined the call center bandwagon later. Because of the hype and the huge initial success, many countries were of the opinion that the BPO fizz would soon die down. But that was not to be. Before they could know what hit them, neighboring countries were earning tons of money from
answering service work. That was reason enough. The reasons got stronger when the recession came to town. Added to the question of revenue, there was also the problem of employment. State administrators had a tough time cracking this R-puzzle. Business was dying down in other sectors. There were lots of layoffs and pink slips flying all over the place. Unemployment in the USA itself is precariously hovering around 10%.
Help came in the form of call center services. It was a blessing for both ends of the table. From the perspective of the developed countries, outsourcing non-core work to the BPO firms in the less-developed countries saved them money. They were cash-strapped anyway because of all that the economy was doing to them. They did not have the money to meet the demands of the business. Consumers needed a cost-cut in the prices because they did not have the money to pay for expensive products/services. The manufacturers and service providers couldnt afford a cost cut because they were not being able to break even despite all the effort. Business outsourcing provided the answer. They had professional people handling their calls and customer retention became easier.
From the other perspective, call center firms earned the dollars and the pounds. BPO hubs were built in the middle of nowhere. You had cities like Metro Manila jumping out of the pages of obscure geography books and earmarking themselves as hot call center services destinations. Employment for the educated youth was not a problem anymore. In fact, the young were taking to the answering service industry with a gusto that was unparalleled. Some of them rose up the corporate ladder to take on positions of managers and trainers. With the coming of intent, the sector was looking for some sort of organization. Neighboring countries and cities tried to replicate the success formula. That is primarily the reason why the business outsourcing wing saw spurts of growth even in the worst of times.
