As you get started for a new website design, you will be tempted with the various new designing ideas that could turn into useless mistakes. And this is true if your website represents your business. Certain mistakes are there that needs to be avoided at all costs.

Having too many graphics (particularly the large ones) in the website design, can cause the site to load very slow. And because of this the visitors will get impatient and sometimes click out of your site and never return back due to the first impression formed on them. The only solution to this is that whenever possible save your graphics as GIF file in spite of JPEG format. And also you need to reduce the actual size of the graphics as much as you can without affecting the quality of the picture.

The visitor counter should not be seen on your site unless and until you have tremendous traffic on your site. The reason behind this is that the visitors are really not interested in knowing the number of visitors already visited before them. It is of no benefit for the visitor. The only point of showing the number of visitors is when you have millions of visitors and wish to show the popularity of your website. Thus the web hosts offer statistics through which the daily reports about the visitors, referrers, hits etc can be made available to you personally, not at the website.

The banners should be limited on your website, as it makes the website load slowly, they work as an advertisement and that is why most of the visitors avoid clicking them. The banner should be placed either at the extreme top of the site or at the bottom, as it can be the first picture that the visitors see and they start reading below that, so the text above the banner remains unnoticed in the website design. Also the banner should be somehow related to the product or service you provide, it benefits to target customer.

The website should not be scattered, it should be easy to navigate for the visitors. You must take a look at the flow of your site before making it live on internet. If the visitors get stuck in any page, they should be able to go to home page with ease. Try to make a general website so that it reaches the target audience. As you can't be everything to everybody, it is the most effective way of selling the products through internet. Try to be personal with the customer and make him feel as if you are talking to him directly, through this you can stay focused on your target audience as well.
