Mothers Day In China.

Our role model, our leader and the person who has always been by our side through any sort of tough time that we face is our mother

. Since the day we are born she has always been there for us and done everything for us when we were incapable of doing so. She changed our diapers, taught us how to walk, taught us how to talk and stuffed us till our belly was full. Nothing we can ever do is enough to pay her back and this is something one understands once they become a parent themselves.

Mothers Day is celebrated with great heart and soul in China on the second Sunday of the month of May every year. It has become increasingly popular over the years, but the way of celebrating it has changed. In 1997, carnations were the main flowers in China that were used and Mothers Day was used to basically help poor mothers. In recent years, Mothers Day is celebrated to support the story of Meng Mu and replaced the official flower carnations with lilies.

Meng Mu was the mother of Meng Zi and was a very dedicated on indeed. She was a single mother as her husband has passed away and they were very poor. Meng Mu was so dedicated to her sons upbringing that she moved her house three times to find the best suited neighborhood for him. The first home was by a cemetery and she saw her son imitating poor mourners for which reason she moved. The next house was by a market and her son began to imitate the cries of merchants which caused her to move again. The last house was by a school and her son began to study and was inspired by scholars, which is something he soon became.

Thus, the Chinese celebrate Mothers Day every year to support the story of this single mother and have also formed an association called Chinese Mothers Festival Promotion Society. Lilies became the official flowers in China as that is what mothers planted in ancient times when their children left their homes. This special day is all about celebrating time with your mothers and expressing gratitude and love towards them.

Exchanging flowers with your mothers is another ritual.
