Motorola W270 - The Return Of Motorola

The mobile market is ruled by three or four major mobile phone manufacturers

. Chief among them are Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Sony and Motorola. While the top position in mobile manufacturing is certainly held by one of the three, some of these models slip up and slip down with some unsuccessful models now and then. However, their favor changes once they come out with that one single model that brings them back into the fore. Motorola has admittedly been at the longer tail of the mobile market for most of the time, only to come back with a great phone, like the V3i or the Milestone. One another phone that made Motorola a household name once again was the W270.

The W270 was basically Motorola taking a page out of Nokia's book go global domination and launched one of the cheapest phones around. The mobile phone is quite cheap and the build quality is actually quite sturdy - probably the company already knew that this low budget phone would be used by either the type of people who buy cell phones once in a blue moon or those who put their phones through a lot of wear and tear due to their everyday work.

Also, the W270 had all the features that one would want and would be possible in the given price range, which was borderline entry level. What made the phone a winner was the sort of music player and the radio - which is something that is today known as the most basic of features in any cell phone. The W270 also had a largish display and the font size of the numerals was quite large, which made it another sureshot buy for the elderly who have sight problems and cannot see the display quite properly.

But of course, what made the cell phone really unique was the clam shell design. This was the first cell phone in the price range to offer a clamshell design, which again made it a sure shot buy for the folks like college students and someone who would like a snazzy and stylish phone at a low price.

The popularity of this cell phone can be considered by the fact that it is still available in the first hand market even after two years of its launch. The W270 makes a perfect gift, or a perfect first cell phone for the person who is trying to find out whether they can afford a cell phone or not.
