Tips to Remember and Help You Advance
Once you start playing guitar, and you see yourself getting better, it is usually not difficult to stay motivated to practice. However, as you get improve, there are certain things you should be mindful of as you attempt to advance to the next level. Keeping these tips in mind will help you progress towards your dream of becoming a great guitar player.
Take it Easy
Although it is sometimes hard to do so, the first you should remember is that you should never try to rush things. It's very tempting to try to imitate the great players, but remember they weren't always great. If you aren't at their skill level yet, feel confident that you are working towards it, but stick with where you are right now. When you learn a new technique, practice it until you are comfortable with it before you move on. You will master your skills and technique as you progress. This is a good habit to get into early, and will set good groundwork for you as you work towards becoming a great guitar player in the future.
Do Things Correctly From the Start
Another important thing is to ensure that you don't develop bad habits early in your career. The little things lead to bigger things, and it's much better to start out the right way than be forced to correct things later. Seemingly unimportant things such as posture, and the way you hold the guitar are actually more crucial than you may think. A good guitar course will teach you how to do these things at the onset so you won't even develop those bad habits. Also, pay close attention to your guitar and keep it in good shape. Next to you, the guitar is the most important piece of equipment!
Stay Motivated!
Most importantly, keep yourself motivated! There will be times when you don't feel like practicing, and you may even begin to lose interest or get frustrated because you don't feel you're getting any better. A great way to prevent this is to talk to other guitar players. They have been through it too and will be able to help you through the rough stuff. If they are beginners, then you can support each other as well. Certainly though, with the right guitar course, motivation and loss of interest should not even be a problem!
Hang Out With Other Players
Check out the online guitar communities, Meetup Groups, and forums. They can really help you. Seeing and talking to other will help you improve as well. Watching the advanced players, seeing their enthusiasm, and knowing they were once just like you will help take you to the next level. Commit to becoming a great player and you will make it happen!
