Moving is a big step in everyone's lives. Even if you move across town, moving furniture is always difficult, and hiring moving services can get expensive. So how do you plan out your new house? Planning and decorating are two of the joys of moving into a new place, even if you are moving locally. Being able to pick wall colors, carpet colors, curtain patterns, furniture styles and colors, and even decorative lamps can be exciting and challenging. Take your time decorating, do it one piece at a time, room by room, and watch your love of decorating your new home grow. Who knew moving furniture could be so much fun?

You might want to rethink the furniture you don't want to bring with you. Do it yourself shows can also provide inexpensive ways of repurposing grandma's antique kitchen buffet into a modern and chic piece. Fifty bucks might not seem like much money compared to what you spent on the couch, but $50 is more than you would make giving it away to a charitable cause like Goodwill or The Salvation Army, which is always available if no one buys it.

So if you have a local move, a long-distance move, or even an international move, and you don't know what to do with your couch, remember that you have some options. There is always somewhere or someone looking for a decent couch, so don't toss yours on the curb: donate, sell or give your piece away. You'll be glad you did.
