Moving To Israel
Many people choose to relocate to Israel for a number of reasons; a large number
of immigrants are drawn to the country because of religious motives, while others simply want to experience a new culture.
If youre Jewish and you plan to move to Israel, youll be making whats referred to as aliyah or ascension. Note that Israel allows for individuals of all nationalities and who are Jewish, to immigrate under the law of return. And because its considered a true privilege, there are organizations dedicated to making this transition an unforgettable experience.
The process is rather simple. Youll begin by completing the required paperwork. Youll have to provide evidence that you were born into the Jewish faith or of your conversion to Judaism. If moving with your spouse and children, youll have to produce a marriage certificate and their birth records. In addition, youll need to obtain a letter from the Rabbi where you attend services regularly. Also, prepare to provide a statement detailing your reasons for wanting to live in Israel.
Once approved, the entity thats assisting you to relocate will provide all the necessary travel items including airline tickets. And on board your flight, a government official will process the added paperwork for you to enter the country. If arriving from other than the United States or Canada, youll be directed to the proper authorities in order to complete the process.
Once you land on Israeli soil, youll receive the welcome of a dignitary. And if you dont have relatives already living there, youll be provided with temporary housing in any of the beautiful cities around the country.
Throughout the adjustment period, newcomers are encouraged to attend free Hebrew classes and to participate in the many activities that ensure you have an easy integration to Israeli society.
Prior to effectuating your relocation, inquire about a moving company to send all your furnishings and personal belongings overseas. Most of these firms are reasonably priced and render excellent service. Best of all, there are no taxes for you to worry about if you bring your goods within three years of arrival to the country.
And fret not; whether you have family living in Israel or not, youll never be alone. Israeli people are warm and friendly.
