Music Affects Children Of All Ages

Music is a universal language which can affect anyone in some way or another

. In children and teenagers, the rapid learning and development the brain is going through pronounces this effect. Many studies have shown just how music can improve overall mood. Studies have also shown music can lead to increased test scores. Music plays an important role in the development of children and teenagers.

Children enjoy nursery rhymes because the melodies are very playful and pleasing to the ear. The physical vibrations and harmonies interact with a child's mind in many ways. A major scale is a collection of notes with a general "happy" or "perfect" sound. Because most nursery rhymes are in a major scale, on a subconscious level, this will automatically lift children's moods and spirits. Clapping in the recording encourage the child to clap along, dance and be happy.

Playing a musical instrument will allow the child to develop a hobby. Hobbies help children develop important skills which could then help them later on in life. Musical instruments will encourage a child to think creatively. If a child has nothing better to do, he will just watch television or do something unproductive the entire day. Furthermore, if children who are interested in music take music lessons, then they will minimize time spent watching television or doing other unproductive activities.

Learning an instrument at a young age is ideal for children because they are able to learn it much faster due to their rapidly developing brains. This is the reason why many virtuosos started learning their respective instruments at an early age. Playing a musical instrument is fundamentally stimulating and amusing for children. Being able to replicate their favourite songs or being able to make their own music will be an engaging activity for most children.

Teenagers often are trying to discover their true identity and establish a sense of belonging in society. Music plays an important role in defining identities in teenagers. Different genres appeal to different kinds of teenagers. Many bands will have a frontman for teens to idolize and look up to. Musical tastes are also a good way for teenagers to bond with their peers and make more friends.

Learning a musical instrument for teenagers can be a life-changing experience for them. Many teenagers form bands, which can spark new friendships and form networking for the future. Making music is a creative process and it stimulates the brain. It is also a way to relieve stress, which is particular important for teenagers going through extreme hormonal changes. Instead of turning to drugs, teenagers can turn to playing music when they want to take a break from the typical stressful teenager experience.
