David Walliams is better known as one of Britains favourite television comedians, making a name for himself in hit series Little Britain. But he has made a truly successful jump from comedian to childrens author and has written some very funny and very accessible childrens books that are suitable for readers aged nine years or older. These are great reads for long trips as well as being perfect for a page or two before bedtime.

Seven Extreme Adventures: Grizzly Trap by Justin DAth

Excitement, adventure and imagination, the Extreme Adventures books by Justin DAth have got it all, particularly if your childs imagination is big and bold. Justin DAths books are suitable for readers aged eight years or older and we particularly love this one Grizzly Trap. If your kids are speedy readers, why not get the whole collection, which includes Shark Bait, Anaconda Ambush and Killer Whale.

Eight 101 Dalmatians by Dodie Smith

This classic story was made so by the Disney film adaptation but the book is a special read and one that your kids will love if they like animals and a tale with an uplifting ending. Suitable for readers aged eight years or older, this book should be in every childs collection, and you might want to have another read of it for old times sake!

Nine The Beatles: Yellow Submarine

A catchy pop song from the sixties that has inspired a colourful and fun hardback book for children aged five years or older. A must-have for kids with big imaginations who love colour, pictures and music and grandparents who were children of the sixties may well seem keener to read to their grandchildren with this one on the bookshelf!
