My Mini-break Baggage Dilemma Solved.

Recently, I travelled to London for an overnight break

. Taking the train down, I took just enough for the two days, hoping to avoid the annoyances that come from travelling with luggage. However, I soon realised that carting any reasonably sized luggage item across London was less than desirable. In the wonderful hustle and bustle of the city centre, weaving around through tube stations and busy shops, carrying a hefty rucksack or a small plug-a-long trolley is a real inconvenience. More than I had imagined possible!

I wanted to be able to go shopping, to take a turn on the London Eye, and to stroll up towards Buckingham Palace with ease. I didnt want to be struggling along with a large bag, unable to truly enjoy the sites of the city due to a constant fear that my bag might be taken, forgotten or damaged during the day. The hotel check-in wasnt until mid-afternoon, which felt like an age away Consequently, I desperately need a solution.

A quick search on my phone [thank goodness for the world in our pocket phones we have now!] revealed a glimmer of hope. I came across a site entitled Luggage Lockers London. Curious, I read on and discovered that it was indeed the perfect service for my problem. I have never thought of using left luggage facilities at a railway station before truthfully, I probably havent even noticed them but this site explained it all. I could take my bag to one of their sites, located in various key train stations, and leave it for a nominal fee. The fact that I would want my bag again later that day, to take it to the hotel [where I could, again, discard it for a few hours as I headed back out around the city] wasnt a problem. In fact, short term storage was just as feasible as longer term storage. Wonderful!

I took my bag to the unit located at Piccadilly Station and, essentially, checked it in. The staff made me feel confident that my bag would be securely looked after; after a security screening process, the bag would be locked away until my return. In the meantime, there would be a member of staff present [from 7am until 11pm] and CCTV. It was such a relief! I was able to leave that station with a sense of comfort, from knowing that my belongings were safe, and then explore the city with ease From being a service I had not heard of before, it quickly became a service I am confident I will use again.
