My Part Time Alternative

I'm 33 and have found myself looking for a part time career that could turn into something full time down the road

. Like most high school graduates I enrolled and went to college directly after graduating. I hated it. I didn't like my professors, I didn't like the homework and I didn't like the structure that I felt forced to be in. I stubbed along dropping most of my classes before I failed them for about two years. I really didn't receive many credit hours at all. I finally gave up and decided to work for a local retailer full time. While I was working for this retail company I meet a girl in cosmetology school and I looked into it. I decided to give that a chance. I attended and did graduate from cosmetology school in about a year and a half. Although this was a strutored school also, I found that I loved the creative side and had found my calling. I have now been working full time in the cosmetology profession for 12 years. I work at a high end salon and have been able to purchase my own home two years ago.

The economic downfall hit my state hard about eight months ago. I have had 68% of my clientele either relocated to another state or laid off completely. This has taken my annual income down 15,000 from last year. I am a single woman with no children and no one else to lean on. I started looking into getting a part time job to supplement my income until the economy turned back around. It is very hard to find anything when my availability is so limited. In my research I came across medical transcription. This job would allow me to work from home on my time off my other job. Looking into it further I started to see another career opportunity that I had never realized before, a retirement opportunity. As I stated before, I'm only 33. But I'm already showing signs of wear and tear on my body from standing in the same place and using my hands in the same pattern for the last 12 years. My back and neck hurt after one of my 10 hour shifts. My feet and hands are becoming numb at night. Even though the salon I am with has a 401k plan that I do contribute to, I had to ask myself if I was physically going to be able to work this way until I turn 67. The truthful answer is no. My body is not going to hold up that long. I need to start planning for my future. I need to find a career that I can do even if I have a broken leg, arm or toe. That is why I am here. SN:0TG9Y2ESY

I can get educated in Medical Transcription and start working part time now to supplement my income and never have to leave the comfort of my own home. Then when it is time for me to retire from behind the chair, I can either do Medical Transcription full time or stay part time depending on my financial status. The options that this profession will allow me are amazing. I am extremely happy to have come across this school as well. I looked at some of the medical transcription university and community colleges and there medical transcription classes around my city. They all want me to get my associates degree and basically give them a ton of money and time that I don't have. When I found FutureMT I was about to give up and enroll with one of them, adding more to the student loan I'm already paying back. Now I am glad to know that I can be certified without having to go back to college for everything. This site is extremely affordable and seems to have everything I'm looking for. Now I'm making a step to turn my financial present and future around. There is no reason why I can't have two professions. There is no reason why I can't have it all.
