My Personal Experiences Of Marketing On Twitter

Several years ago, there was a big push about Twitter marketing tools

. It was thought that you could use Twitter as an effective means to grow a list of potential customers for your products or services. But the question is, were any of those software packages that were promoted, actually doing you any good? In today's article, we are going to be talking about Twitter marketing and if it is even worth it for you to get into it.

I was one of those who was curious to determine if getting a big following on Twitter was going to help my product promotion endeavors and so paid for the tools. I enlisted in programs that promised to get me followers on Twitter and bought software tools to help publicize my products. Altogether, I think I invested in about 8 software programs to help with my Twitter marketing venture.

One of these tools was an automatic 'people follower' on Twitter with the intention that some of those people would follow me also. Individuals who were not following me on Twitter would be automatically taken off my follow list by another tool I had purchased. This would enable me to follow different Twitter users again to get them to follow me. On top of some other programs that are not actually worth bringing up, I bought a program that would automatically take my blog posts and automatically Tweet them as soon as they were published on my blog. And when I began using all of these software the results seemed to be amazing as they all did exactly what they said they would do. Nonetheless, my happiness was quickly crushed when I realized that I wasn't making any money. My plan was to post multiple blog entries each day and each of them was then sent straight to show on Twitter. Hoping to increase the number of daily posts, I found a way to automatically post any number of entries to my blog and hopefully obtain more followers.

The results of my Twitter marketing efforts are: In three years, I was able to gain a Twitter following of almost 10,000 individuals. You may be very delighted to have that number of followers, but there's more to come. In the same 3 year period, my Twitter account accumulated at least 15,000 blog posts that had links to my affiliate offers. Other than that, I did no additional promotion for that blog, in fact I didn't even ping the new blog entries to see how good Twitter was could be. Well, you can't say that 3 years isn't long enough to achieve decent results but using Twitter I just got 2 - 4 visitors daily to my blog. My affiliate earnings from 2 sales was $47 and to that you can add $8.65 Adsense revenue - pretty dismal all around!

In short, having approximately 10,000 followers on Twitter using all these tools will not give you the results you desire. As a matter of fact, in the last 3 years I have not even generated enough money from that blog to pay for the Twitter programs that I had bought. There might be other more successful means to promote on Twitter, but from my experience, using automatic software tools is not one of them.
