My Reservations About Lasik Eye Surgery

I am now forty seven years old

I am now forty seven years old. And seven years ago, I was sad to find my vision was deteriorating. So I began to find some good methods to cure my vision problem. And recently, I am interested in LASIK eye surgery which can help people to get rid of glasses or contact lenses in their later life as advertisements promoted. With this interest and my desire to have good eyesight, I have checked many information on books or Internets in order to learn more about LASIK eye surgery. But to be frank, though many people are satisfied with this surgery, I still have some reservations about it.

Firstly, please allow me to introduce my eye condition. Ever since I was a little boy, I have been taught the importance of protecting our eyes. I remember when I was 5 years old, I was very excited to have the first BB gun. But I had to follow some strict instructions from my brother. As he said, if there was shot on the eye, this would cause eye blindness. It was terrible, I thought. And when I played fireworks, my parents gave me strict warnings that if fireworks were not handled properly, it would cause very serious damage to our eyes and body. I remember at my teens, I met a blind man caused by a fire cracker accident. And when I was seventeen, I got my first job in a cabinet shop. There I noticed the importance of wearing goggles. There are also some other examples to show how I pay attention to protect my eyesight. And now I am forty-seven years old, though I am eager to have good eyesight, on the other hand, I am not willing to take risks of other risks or complications caused by LASIK eye surgery.

One day, a wise man told me some wise words you should take good care of your teeth as you only have one set.. And it is also the same case for our eyes. Though you can easily see many testimonies to show how great this surgery is, there are also some warnings of side effects or complications caused by the surgery. Just as what we know that there is not anything that can be 100% perfect. LASIK eye surgery is no exception. But with the fast development of this technology, it is believed that the risks will be fewer and fewer. It is because of these reservations that I decide not to take LASIK eye surgery for at least five years. I firmly believe after 5 years, LASIK eye surgery will have higher rate of success, and the complications and side effects will be fewer.
