Nameplate refers to the value specified by manufacturers. The metric values given by manufacturers are general predictions that are relatively conservative.They may have little correlation with power usage under real-world and normal conditions.

Thesevalues try to forecast power consumption on a theoretical basis. However, because the values are conservative, the true energy demand at a data center may be two to six times the prediction. This is therefore not always an accurate way of determining power consumption.
