Napoleon Hill And Desire
The famous author Napoleon Hill wrote about 13 principles of what it takes to succeed and become very rich financially
. In another presentation I talked about Napoleon and how he came to accumulate great riches and passed on these principles to others, just by studying the lives and minds of others who became extremely wealthy. Since the last presentation covered the introduction and FAITH,I'll move on to another quality that people must possess in order to accumulate vast amounts of wealth, which is DESIRE. We are not talking about just a hope or a wish to become rich or to have success in life. We are talking about an all consuming, burning desire, (some might call an obsession). In his book, Mr. Hill uses several examples of how those he studied set a goal and then did whatever it took to reach that goal. That doesn't some from just a wish or hope, or an easy break from someone who has compassion of you. It comes from definite goals, from a plan to get there, and persistence. What causes people to keep going when things get tough? (and they alwaysdo get tough) It comes from inside, from determinations and a powerful and pulsating force that one creates through choice.
Those that Napoleon Hill studied, because of his commission for Andrew Carnegie, were hundreds in number. These people did not say, "I'll try this for a few weeks or months and see what happens," or "if things don't work out right away, I'll just look around somewhere else." No, they staked
their entire futures on their ability to get what they wanted and burned bridges, leaving no room for retreat. That is the mindset of greatness, he found. What if Marshal Field had left Chicago when the rest of the merchants left after the great fire and things looked dismal? Or what if Edward Barnes had given up working for Thomas Edison when he was given menial jobs to do? Instead, they fixed in their minds the exact thing they wanted and pursued their desires with persistence that did not recognize failure.
Napoleons advice about desire are these six (6) things:
1) Fix in your mind the exact amount of money that you want to make or
the exact thing you want to accomplish. Not an approximation or general
idea. There is a psychological impact to being definite.
2) Determine exactly what you are going to do or give to obtain the sum
that you desire.
3) Set a definite date about when you intend to possess this goal.
4) Plan. Yes, create a plan about how you will reach your goal or obtain the
sum you intend.
5) Write out your plan in form of a statement, exactly step by step about
how you will follow
along the way to acquire and what you will give in return, such as what
you will do with the money and what services you will provide to obtain
it.
6) Then read your statement aloud twice a day, every single day, in the
morning and in the evening. Read it as if it has already happened,
seeing and believing that you are already in possession of this goal and
your hearts desire.
Its very important to follow these steps exactly in order to convince yourself you will have it and to hold onto your desire, as people tend to "go with the flow" of life and give up easily in face of a little resistance.
