The latest in the Chronicles Of Narnia film franchise hits cinemas late 2010. Based on the book Voyage Of the Dawn Treader, the third in the Narnia series to be written by CS Lewis, this film promises to be one of the best of the series so far. If you or your children want to enjoy the experience of the movie over and over again before it hits DVD then try these resources.
The first port of call (excuse the pun!) would be the book itself. There are a number of editions of Voyage Of the Dawn Treader, from simple mass market paperback editions to limited edition collector's items. With the release of the film there is a new paperback release with a photograph of the Dawn Treader ship on the cover. Also of note it the rerelease of Inside the Voyage of the Dawn Treader, a commentary of the book by Devin Brown which would make a great read to get the most out of the original source book and the film.
For other ways to get absorbed in the story, you can try the Voyage Of the Dawn Treader Radio Play audio performance from Focus On The Family. This play goes for almost four hours and features different actors performing each of the book's characters as well as an original score and sound effects, so you really feel like you are listening to the story in your head. It is great to listen to with kids or even by yourself with earphones on to get the best effect and is available either on CD or download.
If you are into music then the soundtrack the soundtrack to the film is amazingly effective at brining the feel of the film home. Listening to the score in the order presented in the film allows you to envisage each scene, and feel it's unique events and emotions.
So until the DVD/Blu Ray comes out (or even after) these resources will help you and your children explore the story of CS Lewis' Voyage Of the Dawn Treader story over and over again.
