Natural Insomnia Remedies to Improve Quality of Sleep
Insomnia is a symptom; it is not related with some diagnosis or disease. It may be the result of inadequate quantity or quality of a sleep. It is related with a sleepless night.
Insomnia is classified on the basis of duration of the problem -
1. If insomnia lasts for less than a week then it is said to be as transient insomnia.
2. If the symptom of insomnia lasts between a week to three weeks then it is said to be short term insomnia.
3. If the insomnia lasts for more than three weeks then it is classified as chronic insomnia.
There are different causes of insomnia like medical or psychiatric conditions, situational factors or primary sleep problems. Some of the common causes of transient and short term insomnia are excess or unpleasant noise, changes in shift work, jet lag, uncomfortable room temperature, stressful situation in life due to exams, separation, unemployment, divorce etc. the other cause may be high altitude, withdrawal from drug, sedative, alcohol etc.
The causes of chronic insomnia are stress, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and depression.
Some of the important symptoms of insomnia -
1. Difficulty with memory.
2. Irritability and impaired social interaction.
3. Impaired motor coordination.
4. Because of fatigued, sleep-deprived drivers there may be motor vehicle accidents.
The problem of insomnia can be treated naturally. The natural remedies for insomnia are effective as well as popular also.
1. Make a habit to meditate for at least 15 minutes before going to bed. When our mind is not relaxed properly then it results into sleep problems.
2. Make a habit to go to bed by 10 pm. It is said by Ayurveda and its research that if any one goes to bed by 10 pm then it is very easy to fall asleep and the quality of sleep as well as rest is deeper if we prefer to go to bed before 10 pm. If we go to bed after 10 pm then our sleep will disappear as well as quality of sleep also degrade.
3. Make a habit to drink lots of water as it flushes out the toxins from our body.
4. Massaging your body prior to bath with oil at least 1-2 times a week is also very effective.
5. Before going to sleep if you find yourself in disturb condition then listen to calm soothing music or read some audio or books which relaxes our mind.
6. Intake of chocolates, colas or foods containing caffeine must be avoided at least prior going to bed.
