Natural Preconception Gender Selection - Techniques To Get You Started

Most of us would not dream of using a gender selection clinic to conceive a child

of a particular sex, however, natural preconception gender selection is a different matter and there are many of us who would like to tip the balance in our favor to have either a baby boy or girl to complete our family.

One good starting point is the timing of intercourse. Fertilization happens around the time of ovulation and there is a small window of opportunity each month when a fertile woman might conceive. Within this small window are opportunities which make it more likely you will conceive either a girl or boy.

Sperm contains both male and female sperm in more or less equal quantities. However, each type has distinct characteristics and by exploiting these, we can use the information to our advantage. Male sperm is faster and smaller than female sperm. However, it is shorter living and less robust.

Having intercourse as close to ovulation as possible means that the journey to the egg effectively becomes a "race" and one which the male sperm is likely to win! Having intercourse a couple of days before ovulation gives the slower female sperm chance to reach the egg whilst the less-robust male sperm will perish before the egg is released. Of course, to take advantage of this knowledge it is essential to know precisely when ovulation occurs and the best way to do this is use an ovulation predictor kit. These are 99% accurate and will take away the guesswork.

Another simple method of natural preconception gender selection is to adapt the pH level of the vagina to acidic if you would like to conceive a girl and alkaline if you would like to conceive a boy. First you should determine the baseline pH level of the vagina by using pH testing strips (available economically from your pharmacy) and then make the necessary adjustments. Consuming or avoiding certain foods can help to change the acid/alkaline balance as can using simple douches which you can put together at home.

Rather than being one of the many couples who leave matters to chance, take control and be proactive rather than being left with that "what if" feeling forever.
