Natural Products Better for the Environment AND Your Body
Collectively, Americans are more aware now than ever before about the impact we have on the earth's environment.
For the most part, people are choosing more earth-friendly products where available and many of us are recycling and composting what we can to divert as much waste as possible from entering landfills.
We know that the production of natural products is less harsh and taxing on our environment than production of their chemical-laden counterparts and many of us try to use products that were produced close to home to cut down on carbon emissions caused by transportation of goods.
Another big reason why we should be attempting to use more natural products (besides caring for the environment) is because of the dangerous toll chemicals are taking on our bodies. The toxic chemicals in ant bait, for example, are known to trigger asthma attacks and even to cause cancer.
If you've taken steps to use more environmentally friendly insect killers and household products because of their potential harm on family members, then it's time to take a look at what you're putting in and on your own body.
Parabens are chemicals used as preservatives in many common health and beauty products from shaving gels and tooth paste to shampoo and moisturizers. Though there are studies claiming that parabens are safe, there are many claiming that they are dangerous and can even cause cancer. That's a scary thought when you're talking about products you put on your skin.
Because there are debates around parabens with many deeming them dangerous, a lot of people are choosing to err on the side of caution and start replacing products in their home with paraben-free options which are readily available these days.just in case.
It can be an expensive undertaking to eliminate all products you currently own that contain parabens so we would suggest starting with products you use for your children and from there, replace items as they run out rather than all at once.
