Nba Tickets - 3 Nba Players With A Lot To Prove

To some extent, every player in the NBA has something to prove

. They have to motivate themselves to perform at the highest level in the world, and sometimes they'll use anything it takes to keep themselves in that upper echelon. While some players may have to prove that they still have it when it comes to winning big games and selling NBA tickets, for other players it becomes more personal. LeBron James is a perfect example from this past season. After he seemingly wilted in the 2010-2011 playoffs during his first season with the Miami Heat, James re-dedicated himself during the previous offseason to doing whatever it takes to prove his doubters wrong.

At the conclusion of the 2011-2012 NBA season when the Heat won the title, James proved them all wrong and had the last laugh. Criticize him all you want, but now he's finally a champion. Does this mean that James is going to rest on his laurels? No way, no how. Now instead of proving that he can take his team to the top and win it all, James will look forward to proving that they can do it all again. Who are a few other players with something to prove this season?

Dwight Howard - Orlando Magic:

Dwight Howard's saga has evolved to the point that it seems like everybody just wants it to be over, including Howard himself, the Magic, and every other team in the NBA. Does he want to stay or go? Does he want to be traded to the Mavericks or the Nets? Will he sign a long-term contract if the Nets decide to trade for him? Some of these questions are ones that only Howard can answer. With all of the rumors thrown around about him out there, the only way Howard will get what he wants is by firmly putting himself in the driver's seat, and the best way to do that is to have a monster season if he wants to force a trade or improve his stock as a free agent. In addition, Howard needs to prove he can stay healthy and that he isn't a cancer to a team. If this happens, Howard can write his own checks and choose his own destination, all the while leaving Orlando with his legacy mostly intact.

Tyreke Evans - Sacramento Kings:

The Kings drafted Evans in 2009 expecting him to be a superstar for the franchise, but for three straight seasons his numbers have continued to drop. Still, at only 22 years of age, Evans is one of those players who seems ready for a breakout year, especially if he wants a large qualifying offer in the offseason.

Nikola Pekovic - Minnesota Timberwolves:

Rebounding from a horrible year in 2011, Pekovic became a force to be reckoned with in 2012. Putting up near All-Star statistics, Pekovic ended up with 14 points and almost eight rebounds per game. If Ricky Rubio returns to form and with Pekovic's hold on a starting position seemingly secure, look for Pekovic to continue to put up big numbers and command a larger salary next offseason.
