Nba Tickets - Eastern Conference Playoff Prediction
Here are the teams in the Eastern Conference that I think will make the playoffs in 2009-10
, listed in order of their predicted seeding.
Cleveland Cavaliers: The acquisition of Shaquille O'Neal was definitely a big one, but I think people are underrating the pickup of Anthony Parker. Parker will be able to defend the kind of athletic forwards that plagued the Cavaliers in the playoffs last season, as well as hit three-pointers. Shaq will give this team an inside presence that they've never been able to pair with LeBron James, so one would think that this is the King's best shot at a title yet.
Orlando Magic: The Magic may have lost Hedo Turkoglu, but their acquiring Vince Carter more than made up for that loss. Carter is a better overall player than Turkoglu and will be able to replace a lot of what the Turkish forward gave them. Dwight Howard is still getting better and the team will be getting back a 100 percent healthy Jameer Nelson. The pickups of Brandon Bass and Matt Barnes will prove to be very good moves as well. This team could challenge Cleveland for the number one seeding.
Boston Celtics: The Celtics are another team that could challenge for the number one spot in the conference, but only if Kevin Garnett is healthy. Garnett is trying to come back from a very rare knee injury and his status is somewhat unknown. Paul Pierce and Ray Allen are a year older and probably can't carry the team to the Finals without KG. Rajon Rondo should have his beast season yet, though.
Washington Wizards: I like the Wizards a lot this season. Gilbert Arenas has reportedly returned to form, and the additions of Mike Miller and Randy Foye have been pretty underrated. They've got five really good offensive players, which should be enough to land them the fourth seed in the East.
Atlanta Hawks: The Hawks have a ton of talent and could grab a higher seed if they receive a breakout season from either Marvin Williams or Al Horford. Both guys have shown a ton of potential, and more consistency from one or both would go a long way. This team has a lot going for it, but I'm not sure they'll be improved this season.
Miami Heat: Dwyane Wade can only do so much and I don't know if the supporting cast will be good enough to keep up with some improving teams in the East. The key to this team will be Michael Beasley. If he can shake off some of his off-the-court problems, the Heat could have a good season. If he struggles, Wade won't be able to singlehandedly carry this team much higher than this.
Philadelphia 76ers: The Sixers have a rising star on their hands in Thaddeus Young and I expect Young to wow some people this season. With Elton Brand returning, this team should be better down low and they did a lot to address their outside shooting woes by acquiring sharpshooter Jason Kapono from Toronto. The loss of Andre Miller will hurt, but I think Louis Williams will do a solid job filling in.
Chicago Bulls: The Bulls are definitely a team on the rise, but it's going to be tough to adjust to the loss of their top scorer of the past three seasons, Ben Gordon. Luol Deng's return will help and Derrick Rose should improve, but this team still needs some kind of interior scoring presence to take the next step. The Bulls have a lot going for them, though, and are definitely an exciting team worth getting NBA tickets to see play.
