Ncaa Football Tickets - Alabama Looks To Keep Rolling

College football pundits in the new season will continue genuflecting at the altar

of Alabama football, and not something that looks likely to change in the immediate future. The Crimson Tide, coached by Nick Saban, shook off a moribund effort in a regular season loss to LSU, ultimately coming back to destroy the same Tigers in the BCS championship game. Few see any reason to expect Alabama won't again capture the BCS trophy again, or at least be int he mix. Fans with NCAA football tickets can watch as 'Bama strives to prove it can again capture a national championship.

Some observers caution that Alabama's defense might not be as mean this year. Saban obviously knows that losing studs who destroyed opposing offensives could be a problem. His recruiting staff has been signing blue-chip prospects to take over vacated defensive positions. Plus, Saban has begun patrolling the junior college crop of defensive terrors. Word is that Alabama has attracted junior college transfers who would excel in any program.

Alabama's offense remains lethal. Quarterback A.J. McCarron proved in the BCS showdown with LSU that he is a legitimate passing threat. He completed 67 percent of his throws against a defense generally seen as one of the game's strongest. Some of that aerial success occurred because young receivers finally understood what it took to get open. The one thorn is that McCarron has no real back-up. An injury to the junior quarterback could seriously damage Alabama's title hopes.

The Crimson Tide's stable of running backs rival any in the country. Eddie Lacy will replace Trent Richardson, who is about to become a Sunday attraction. In the wings to spell Lacy is Jalston Fowler, Dee Hart and freshman T.J. Yeldon. They might not approach Richardson's running totals as individuals, but collectively they should exceed his efforts. Look for them all to contribute, but don't be surprised if Yeldon pulls off some electric plays. They say he is that good.

No team can succeed without an offensive line that continually keeps defenders on their butts. Alabama has that, and more. Begin with Barrett Jones, a consensus All-American who just happened to take home the Outland Trophy as college football's best lineman. Add right tackle D.J. Fluker and left guard Chance Warmack and it's easy to see why 'Bama's offensive line is considered among the nation's best. There's also a tight end, Michael Williams, who blocks with evil intent and catches passes along the way.

But, again, no team can attain supremacy without a monster defense. Alabama's 3-4 defense relies heavily on a nose guard who punishes players across the scrimmage line. That remains an issue because Jose Chapman's days at Alabama are done. Nobody yet has stepped up to really assume Chapman's role. The defense also has to replace some excellent linebackers. That shouldn't be a problem. Alabama's collection of up-coming linebackers includes several highly-regarded recruits who are anxious to show their skills. The secondary took some hits, but expect the defensive coordinators to put the right people in the right slots, at the right time.
