Network Marketing: Is It A Reliable Opportunity?

. Network marketing has been a term that many people immediately assume equals not legit. Network marketing's reputation has come a long way as far as its trustworthiness, but still has a long way to go. When searching online the term 'network marketing scams', the list is exhaustive. They even come up when just simply searching 'network marketing' alone. Most are unaware that actually most top well known companies are selling their products through network marketing.

Network marketing companies, which were previously more well known as MLM, have been around for over 70 years. Among the first of these was Nutrilite and Amway. The success of the early companies led to the creation of more network marketing companies. When some 'scammers' saw the success of these types of companies, they started some unethical forms of the business, which included pyramid schemes. This caused the start of the reputation of MLMs as scams. Ethical MLM companies then petitioned the government, and with that a clear definition of MLM was created, and what the proper practices of MLM were to be. Among the ethical practices, pyramid schemes is not one of them.

There a now a multitude of MLMs offering all sorts of different products, training for their members, a good compensation plans. Despite the reputation, the MLM industry continues to grow, as more and more see the business model as a reliable way to create their own business.

Today, the scam image is still out there. One reason is that most who start network marketing fail, and that is because they think it's a quick, easy way to make money. The truth is that it takes a lot of hard work and focus. And, many leap right in without taking the time to check out the company they join and doing some research, or even evaluating if this is something they actually want or can put the time in for. So when they fail at it, they blame the company, and that keeps the scam image alive. It's like any other business; time and effort need to be a part of building any business.

Another reason for the bad reputation is that there are companies out there that are promising a huge income and time freedom in a short amount of time. When, for the most part, these promises fall through, people feel lied to by the company. These people keep the scam image going because they feel they got cheated. Also, many MLMs are immediately labelled as a scam because many people associate them with pyramid schemes.

For network marketing success, persistence and consistency are necessary. Your marketing needs to target those that would be an asset and good at network marketing. It's important to realize that a lot of work and time need to be put into the business, especially in the beginning. Many people fail because they have the idea that it's super easy to make money with network marketing.

If you are considering starting a network marketing business, really have a good look at yourself and if you think you'd be able to put in the work and time that it will take. Do you have a corporate job that you feel secure at? Are you happy knowing you'll get your paycheck with an amount you know you'll get every time? Or are you more of an entrepreneur type? If you've ever considered starting your own business, having time freedom, and eventually financial freedom, then start doing some research. Check out different network marketing companies online and take your time; there are many reputable companies out there. Just remember not to start network marketing if you're not ready to work or if you think it's going to be easy. Be patient and keep your focus.
