Ask any network marketer what the most important part of their business is and they

will always say the same thing; a fresh and constant supply of network marketing leads on which to follow up. Leads provide online businesses, especially network marketing companies, with possible sales. It is easy to see the importance of leas to your business, but what TYPE of leads are the best? Well take a look at that here so you can make an informed and intelligent decision.

Leads can be generated by yourself or you can purchase them in lots. Lets take a look at both of them and then go into a little detail.

Purchased leads

Typically, these lots start at a quantity of about 100 and go up. As with any bulk buying program, the more you buy, the less each one costs, so it is in your best interest to buy as many as you can afford. Usually, a business owner expends about 10% to 15% of net revenues on new leads. If that number scares you a bit, dont stick to it and buy whatever you need.


Purchased network marketing leads can be aged or current. Of course, the most current ones are the most expensive for obvious reasons. Aged leads can be as much as 120 days old in some cases. Really, once you get past about 60 days, they tend to lose their power and contain more bad information.

If you do buy aged leads, stay around the 30 day range, 45 days at the most. Chances are that these people will remember what they asked for and be more receptive to your offer(s).

Another division of purchased network marketing leads are targeted leads. These are the most effective and can be specific to your industry or niche. These folks are already looking for what you offer and are somewhat pre-sold or warmed up to the offers. These are the best that money can buy, folks and are typically responsive.

General leads are simply that. Just people that have filled out some lead capture form online somewhere and now their information is being sold over and over. These are not usually responsive and are sometimes filled with bad info. It is not uncommon to lose 20% or 30% right away due to bad or false information.

Self generated leads


Generating your own leads is the most cost effective method of acquiring network marketing leads. This is sometimes called data mining or lead capture. By generating your own leads, you have more control over what information you retrieve and what the people are looking for. Self captured leads are the equivalent of targeted purchased leads, except they are relatively free of charge to you.

All you need to do is set a small form on your web site home page that asks for basic info like an email address and first name. If you offer a little something to your visitors, they will probably fill the form in. Anything will do and my suggestion is what everybody is after on the Internet: information. Give them a report or white paper that you have written in exchange for their information.

Getting a good supply of network marketing leads is not as hard as you think. It just takes some time and know how. Purchased or generated, leads are the lifeblood of your business.
