Networking Event Promotion - 5 Effective Methods
Hosting your own networking event is one thing but knowing how to fill the room is quite another
. If you have ever attended a networking event that was packed, you know how much more energetic and exciting it was opposed to an event with just a few people.
Sure, events with lite attendance can be more cozy and valuable connections can still be established. However, when an event has a good turnout, it adds to the group dynamic. Thus, increasing the overall options and possibilities for all of the networkers present.
Your event must initially offer some sort of valid substance or there will be little interest generated. If you have all of the intriguing and compelling ingredients correct, people who see your advertisements or hear about it through word-of-mouth will want to attend.
The key then, is to spread the word profusely. If you can accomplish this, a good turnout is in the bag. The following, are tried and tested methods for networking event promotion;
1. Online Social Networks
This method can be extremely effective if you have a large enough online network of contacts. Just about every online social network has a way to post events and then invite your contacts.
Since this is a business networking event, you want to target those who could benefit from attending. Websites like LinkedIn are already geared towards business people.
2. Email Marketing
If you are looking to hold events for the long term, you should have a way to capture your guest e-mail addresses and alert them whenever you are having events. As your list grows through time, sending e-mail alerts will assist you in filling your room.
3. Ad Swaps
This is an effective but usually overlooked method of attendees generation. If you know another marketer in your genre, offer to promote one of their events to your list and vice versa. If it works out well, this can be done several times and you may even want to partner for a joint venture event.
4. Newspapers and Magazines
You are trying to reach a certain target of business people. Professionals read industry magazines as well as local newspapers. The Internet has gotten immensely popular but you can still reach certain segments of a market through print ads.
5. Radio and TV
Depending on your budget, just as above, you can reach certain segments of a market through this advertising outlet. If you are wanting to reach a local area, local cable television stations are available and have reasonable prices.
