One easy upgrade is to focus on your accessories. By simply changing your shower curtain, your towels or your throw rug, you can give your bathroom a whole new look. You can get accessories that match your walls or add an interesting contrast. If you find towels with interesting appliqus, such as seashells, you can use that as a jumping-off point to creating a seaside theme for your entire bathroom. Just add some seashell-shaped soaps and you're done.

The rug, the shower curtain and the towels tend to wear out the quickest, but you can also consider changing your waste basket, your soap dishes, your toothbrush holder and your cups. Take a look at the home furnishings department at your local store and see what interesting options are available. You are sure to find something you like.

Another easy but essential upgrade to make is to assure bathroom safety. Keep non-skid mats handy so people won't fall in the shower. If you have small children or pets, make sure all drawers and cabinets have child-proof locks. The same is true for your toilet.
