New DSLR cameras - The Best goes to those who wait?

It has been almost a year now when the release of the Nikon D3S has started rumours of "imminent announcement" of the Nikon D700S with similar upgrades over the existingNikon D700. With Photokina looming next month, the timing is perfect for a product announcement to the tunes of a Nikon D700S but a few of my sources (notLok C.'s Shenzhen cousins) tells me different. While the Nikon D700S would be a terrific option, it does not quite make for the sucker punch to Canon's more recent domination with the Canon 5D Mark II. Hence, Nikon will be going ahead with their new model the Nikon D800. Basically, the Nikon D800 will be almost exactly the same spec as the Nikon D3S except for the sensor resolution which will be raised to 16 megapixels. While this makes us wonder why a Nikon D4 won't come out with these specs first, the information we've got seems quite convincing that we'll see a 16 megapixels high ISO sensitivity sensor announced this year and available early 2011.
