New England Patriots 3-point Favorites Over The Steelers

Two of the most successful teams in the AFC over the last 10 years meet for the ninth time in the last 10 seasons

. Twice theyve played in conference championship games. Again, theyre two of the best teams in the leaguea deadly-potent offense against a sturdy defense.

When New England and Pittsburgh get together on the field like they will Sunday, it is likely to be one of the most-anticipated matchups of the year.

And on this Halloween weekend, will Heinz Field serve as a house of horrors again for Pittsburgh?

New England has won six of the last eight meetings overall, including four wins in five games at Pittsburgh when Tom Brady is the quarterback. The last meeting was a 39-26 Patriot win in Pittsburgh last year.

New England Patriots

The Patriots are coming off their bye week following their third-straight win, a 20-16 home win over Dallas. The lone loss was a 34-31 decision at Buffalo. The Dallas game was the only one in which New England failed to score 30 points.

The Patriots lead the league in passing (351 yards per game) and rank 10th in rushing (124 ypg). Brady has completed 67 percent of his passes for 2,163 yards, including 16 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He has been sacked 11 times.

Wes Welker has 51 receptions for 785 yards and six touchdowns, with Rob Gronkowski scoring five times on 29 grabs overall for 401 yards. BenJarvus Green-Ellis anchors the run game with 391 yards and five scores (4.3 yards per carry).

New Englands defense ranks eighth against the run (102 ypg) but is last in the league against the pass (322 ypg). The unit has 10 sacks and forced 11 turnovers. Devin McCourty, Patrick Chung and Kyle Arrington al have between 34 and 39 tackles to lead the squad. Mark Anderson leads the team with 3.5 sacks and Arrington has four interceptions.

The Pats average nearly 12 yards per punt return, and kicker Stephen Gostkowski has missed just one of 32 scoring kicks this year (10-11 FG, 21-21 PAT).

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers have also won their last three games, the last a 32-20 win at Arizona. Since giving up 35 points in a Week 1 loss to Baltimore, Pittsburgh has allowed 20 or fewer points in every game since, including three games for 13 or fewer points and one shutout.

The Steeler defense ranks second in the league against the pass (172 ypg) and 12th against the run (107 ypg). The team has 17 sacks but has forced just three turnovers. James Farrior has 45 tackles to lead the team, along with two sacks, while Troy Polamalu has 43 stops, a sack and a fumble recovery. LaMarr Woodley has seven sacks along with an interception, while Ryan Clark has the other pick.

Antonio Brown averages 29 yards per kickoff return and nearly 13 yards per punt return, while Daniel Sepulveda averages 45 net yards per punt.
