The pepper gun uses canisters of pepper spray and works very similar to regular spray dispensers. One big advantage over the conventional method is the gun includes a laser sight so you can increase the accuracy of your aim. You can use it from up to 25 feet away, which is further than normal use of 8 to 10 feet offered with the smallest key chain units. Each canister contains about eight blasts of pepper spray. As with all pepper spray, you want to make sure that you shoot it in the direction with the wind so that it does not blow back into your face and affect you as well as your attacker.

Because of this limitation it will not be effective in all situations. However, it is one of the preferred self defense weapons since you do not have to get close to your attacker in order to use it as you would with many other self defense options.
