New Small Car By 2012 As Result Of Skoda Maruti Tie Up
Skoda India gets into some tie up action this time after Volkswagen also collaborated
with the most popular and the largest selling car manufacturer in India Maruti Suzuki. The company is on serious planning and consideration as regards the Maruti Suzuki tie up and they are thinking of developing a small car for the Indian market. The company plans on launching this new small Cars under its latest hatchback model which is Skoda Fabia by 2012.
The news that has been circulating around the Indian automobile industry as senior officials from Skoda India signified the companys willingness to participate in such collaboration. Skoda Maruti and Volkswagen in India are already contemplating on the issue and they are looking forward to producing the new small car with their combined efforts and expertise. It has been added by the company official that Skoda India looks forward to launch the car that would be placed in the C segment to replace the Skoda Octavia. It is eyed to be released in the market by the second half of 2012.
The SUV Skoda Yeti is set to be launched at the time of the festive season of Diwali as per the Skoda India companys plans. The short term plans of the company also include a sales target that should reach at least 10 percent share of the B+ segment which is now at the 3 percent mark. According to Thomas Kuehl, the board member and director for sales and marketing of SkodaAuto India, the company plans to launch a small car that could be placed below the Skoda Fabia when the year 2012 comes. He also added that the Indian market continues to throw a great potential in this segment which the company wishes to tap.
Mr. Kuel also added that the company could not dismiss the possibility of launching the car which is a product of the collaboration with Maruti Suzuki because the company is known globally for it has a certain hold in the small car segment. He also quoted that the trio namely Volkswagen, Skoda and Maruti Suzuki India looks forward to work towards finding the perfect combination of technology and engineering to develop this new small car.
