Our Thoughts On Toronto Furniture Show 2010: Toronto Home Furnishings Show of 2010 ended with mixed response from retailers

. There were so many importers with basically same stuff and everyone is competing to take a bite out of the retail market. Having similar line of furniture makes one wonder, if our importers ever have a say in original design of furniture they buy from Far East. Luckily though, they are good designs! One good outcome of all this competition amongst the importers is price advantage for the retailers which in turn will be passed on to end users. We saw amazing deals on new arrivals for 2010. Although we saw some slight price increase on some of the suppliers, but mostly due to high Canadian dollars have adjusted their pricing to reflect the buying power of Canadian dollars. We see how it goes till next show! Then there were those importers who are first to introduce new styles, the perfect styles. They are always first. Who are they? They are Sunpan Imports, Zuo Modern, Elite Living, Keoni Design. All available at berkshirefurniture.com, It is fair to give credit to these good suppliers who listen to customers needs and bring home furnishings according to todays lifestyle. The word Contemporary, Chic and Timeless took its best form in this years show. What a change from last years show!! Almost all importers this year understood that enough is enough with big, bulky look of furniture and it is time for smaller, chic, and timeless designs. They were right there with styles and those customers who live in condos and smaller area, be prepared to have a great selections coming soon to Berkshire Furniture, with some already showing on our website. As predicted, against all odds, Shermag shined at the show with their three new introductions, New Heritage, Expresso II and the brand new very solid bedroom called Centropolis. The last one is not on our website yet. As for Canadian made furniture, we were happily surprised by such names as College Woodwork, Leadele, Valco, and Villageois, JLM. They had all something new to show.

College Woodwork introduced two brand new line, Lofthouse and Westrate. Lofthouse is what caught our attention. This is going to be a very successful group; again due to Contemporary look and timeless design. You could buy this for your two year old, or if you are a newly married couple. Not to mention for teens and since the bed is available in Queen and King, you could make a nice suite in the master bedroom. The good news is, College make this bed with Platform Style LH60PF-BED if you choose not use a box spring. Included in the price, the bed will have a couple of posture boards under the mattress. Choice of finishes as always and as of February 1st, you could choose any knobs free of charge for any drawers, (if the drawers come with knobs), so you have more to choose! Thats always good. One last note, Lacquer furniture is beginning to be the new trend. Berkshire Furniture will take easy approach this with caution as to what extend it will become popular. The white lacquer bedrooms and dining looks modern and clean, but the thought of knowing it is made of plastic, might be a deal breaker.
