New weight loss treatments may soon be able to help combat obesity and type 2 diabetes.

Known as an Endobarrier , the sleeve may soon replace the use of gastic bands and bypass surgeries in weight loss treatments.
Although it is not currently available in the United States, it is available in Europe and in the United Kingdom.
In clinical tests, this body care treatment can help obese people loss almost a fifth of their body weight while those suffering from type 2 diabetes may be able to stop using their daily medication and injections.
This latest procedure in a line of weight loss treatments can help those suffering from diabetes by maintaining weight and blood glucose levels in the body which may help them lead everyday lives without the need for medication.
Although the barrier encourages weight loss it also requires some self-discipline from users in order to prevent them from regaining the weight they have lost. In this respect, experts claim that it should not be seen as a cure for obesity and diabetes but rather as an additional aid as it can help keep blood sugar levels and body weight at a safe, steady level.
The device works by mimicking the effects of having a gastric bypass surgery by preventing the body from absorbing food until it reaches the lower intestine.
Now as part of a trial basis, the barrier will be available through the NHS. Participants in the trial will need to have a BMI of between 30 and 50 and have type 2 diabetes. The NHS is hoping that up to 60 people will be able to take part in the trials over the next few months.
