Nfl Tickets - First 2010 Mock
Here is my first attempt at projecting the top 10 picks of the 2010 NFL Draft
. (Note: This article was written on December 22, 2009 and the draft positions are projected using record and remaining schedule.)
St. Louis Rams: Ndamukong Suh, Defensive Tackle, Nebraska: The Rams need a quarterback, but I don't think that they'd take any of the signal callers in this class over Suh at this point. The Rams need help in a lot of areas, and Suh will give them a dominant run-stopper on the defensive line that can also rush the passer. The Rams will need to find a quarterback in the offseason, and could be candidates to make a run at Michael Vick, but I think taking the best player available is the route to go with the number one pick in this draft.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Eric Berry, Safety, Tennessee: Folks don't traditionally purchase NFL tickets to see a safety, but Berry does not fit that mold. He's a playmaker that I've seen compared to Ed Reed and should be a difference-maker from the get-go. The Bucs would love to land Suh, but Berry would be a fantastic consolation prize.
Cleveland Browns: Jimmy Clausen, Quarterback, Notre Dame: This may be a bit of a reach for Clausen, but I think that it's become clear to the Browns organization that neither Derek Anderson nor Brady Quinn is the answer at quarterback. Clausen has his issues, but he's probably the most NFL-ready signal caller in this draft. Mike Holmgren will probably be looking for a quarterback and if he thinks enough of Clausen I think he'll end up being the pick here.
Detroit Lions: Gerald McCoy, Defensive Tackle Oklahoma: McCoy would be the best defensive tackle in most drafts and the Lions could really use a big body like his to plug things up in the middle. The Lions still have a ways to go on defense, and building from the trenches up seems to be the best way to repair a broken unit.
Kansas City Chiefs: Russell Okung, Offensive Tackle, Oklahoma State: The Chiefs have a nice offense coming along, but they need to shore up their offensive line. Brand Albert has been injured a lot and they need a cornerstone tackle to anchor this line. Okung is the best tackle in this draft and the Chiefs would love to get their hands on him.
Oakland Raiders: Derrick Morgan, Defensive End, Georgia Tech: Don't rule out someone like Sam Bradford here, but even Al Davis should have trouble drafting a quarterback this high after going through the JaMarcus Russell debacle. Morgan is the best pass rusher in the draft and the Raiders could use some additional pressure on the quarterback.
Washington Redskins: Sam Bradford, Quarterback, Oklahoma: The Redskins are probably going to hire Mike Shanahan, who will look to find his guy at quarterback. Bradford has the name recognition that owner Daniel Snyder loves and he's unquestionably the best quarterback available at this point.
Denver Broncos: Rolando McClain, Linebacker, Alabama: The Broncos' defensive unit took major strides this season, but they could use a great tackler at linebacker and McClain would fit the bill.
Seattle Seahawks: Anthony Davis, Offensive Tackle, Rutgers: Davis should see his stock rise significantly after the combine, where he's sure to shine.
Buffalo Bills: Trent Williams, Offensive Tackle, Oklahoma: The Bills desperately need help on the offensive line.
