Nfl Tickets - One Record-setting Game For Both Sides

Only one victor emerged from the game between the Indianapolis Colts and the Denver Broncos on Dec

. 13, but the game was momentous for both teams. The Indianapolis Colts maintained their undefeated ways in the 28-16 victory over the Denver Broncos. That win let them set two different NFL records. The first was for consecutive regular-season victories. Including their end-of-the-season run from 2008, the Colts are now at 22 wins, surpassing the New England Patriots' 21-game streak from 2006-2008.

The Colts also clinched the record for victories in a decade. The record was previously held by the San Francisco 49ers of the 1990s with 113 wins, but the Colts now have 114 wins. With more games left in the season, the Colts could push those record numbers even higher. According to the Colts' website, star quarterback Peyton Manning said of the decade record, "I've always learned never to take winning for granted, but when you think about how many we have won in 10 years, you do kind of think about it and it does kind of get you. That's a bunch. You sure do appreciate all the hard work that's gone into those wins."

Looking at the stats paints a perplexing picture of the Colts' win over the Broncos. Manning threw an uncharacteristic three interceptions in the game, although he did make up for it by throwing four touchdowns. The Broncos had more passing yards (262 vs. 220) and rushing yards (95 vs. 92). The biggest advantages for the Colts came from the Broncos' penalties (seven for 65 yards) and the Broncos third-down efficiency (six of 17). That said, the game wasn't a total loss for the Broncos.

Broncos' wide receiver Brandon Marshall surpassed a record of his own, tallying 21 receptions for 200 yards. The number of receptions set a single-game NFL record, breaking Terrell Owens' record from December of 2000, when he had 20 receptions in one game. Marshall had a rough start to this season, butting heads with new coach Josh McDaniels. Marshall has rebounded to tally 86 receptions so far this season for 1,008 yards and nine touchdowns. To surpass his 1,325 career-high yards from 2007, Marshall will have to tally more impressive totals in the Broncos' remaining three games against the Oakland Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs.

Despite the drama before the season, the Broncos had an undefeated run of their own to start the season, starting 6-0. After their Week 7 bye week, their luck seemed to change and they went 0-4. The Broncos have since rebounded and are 8-5 after losing to the Colts.

A pleasant surprise for the Broncos this season has been the contributions of quarterback Kyle Orton, who the Broncos received in a trade with Chicago for Jay Cutler. So far this season, Orton has tallied 2,904 yards, 16 touchdowns, eight interceptions and a passer rating of 88.9 (his career best). The end of the 2009 season is sure heating up, and fans can get NFL tickets online.
