Nfl Tickets - The Top 10 After Week Two
Week two in the NFL saw impressive wins by both the Colts and the Jets
, helping solidify their status as teams worthy of attention. Here is a look at the top 10 teams in the league after two games.
1. New Orleans Saints:
Until they lose, the Saints are the team to beat in the entire NFL. In a tough road game against the 49ers on "Monday Night Football," the Saints took San Francisco's best shot and still squeezed out a 25-22 win as time expired. Drew Brees doesn't make mistakes and this team has too many weapons, even after losing Reggie Bush with a fractured fibula.
2. Indianapolis Colts:
Even after their week one loss to the Texans, there didn't seem to be any reason to panic. Well, in week two we were reminded why the Colts are one of the truly elite teams in the entire league when Peyton and the boys dominated his younger brother and the Giants. When the Colts run the ball well, they are best team in the NFL.
3. Green Bay Packers:
The Bills weren't much of a test but the Packers looked great on both sides of the ball. Now they get to travel to Chicago to take on the Bears on "Monday Night Football" in a game that should be a significant test. The Packers still haven't run the ball all that well but Aaron Rodgers has them as one of the top scoring teams in the league anyway. Their group of young playmakers on defense is also underrated.
4. Houston Texans:
The Texans had a very impressive comeback win against the Redskins in Washington in week two, proving that they can beat you in a variety of ways. It would have been a big letdown if they would have lost following their impressive opening win against the Colts, but Matt Schaub has his team looking like one of the scarier teams in the league to face. We'll know more about them after playing a desperate Cowboys team in Houston in week three.
5. Baltimore Ravens:
Don't get too worried about a road loss against the Bengals following a physical battle on Monday night against the Jets. The Ravens were still in the game late and had a chance to pull it out while playing a Bengals team that badly needed a home win to avoid going 0-2. In week three, the Ravens should be one of the locks of the week at home against the rudderless Browns and people will once again be talking about them being Super Bowl contenders.
6. Pittsburgh Steelers:
With an elite defense and solid running game, the Steelers are playing their brand of football and have beat two quality teams with their backup quarterback to start the season. Though they don't have the type of high-flying offense that sells a ton of NFL tickets, they're clearly one of the most complete teams in the league.
7. New York Jets:
The Jets needed a win in week two against the Pats and Mark Sanchez came through big time. Sanchez had one of his most impressive games as a pro when it mattered the most and they ended up beating a very good Patriots team by two touchdowns. Their week three game on the road in Miami is one of the marquee matchups of the weekend.
8. New England Patriots:
As the Colts proved following their week one loss, it's not wise to get too down on a team with a lot of talent and an elite quarterback. The Patriots get to recover from a tough loss against the Jets by coming home to face the Bills, a team that just had to bench their starting quarterback and could be the in the running for the first pick in the 2011 draft. Like the Ravens, people will be back on the Patriots bandwagon after week three.
9. Atlanta Falcons:
The Falcons had a nice bounce-back game against the Cards in week two after a tough loss to the Steelers to open the season. The Falcons have the right pedigree to be a very tough team to beat moving forward and I still expect them to get to 10 or 11 wins and snag a Wildcard spot in the NFC.
10. San Diego Chargers:
It's tempting to put the Dolphins here after a very nice win on the road against the Vikings, but the Chargers are the team in the easier division and with more overall firepower. The Chargers were supposed to beat the Jags and did nothing short of embarrass Jacksonville in the process of a 38-13 win. There's no reason to think this team won't still win the AFC West.
