Nfl Tickets - The Trials And Tribulations Of Braylon Edwards

Former Michigan star Braylon Edwards has seen his share of problems off the field lately

. The NFL is currently investigating whether he violated the league's conduct policy after accusations emerged that he assaulted a man outside of a nightclub. The football star allegedly socked a friend of NBA star LeBron James after an argument occurred in downtown Cleveland. Police are busy investigating the incident, but the punching altercation is not helpful for Edwards' standing on the field, as he was promptly dumped from the Cleveland Browns by coach Eric Mangini.

The receiver was traded to the New York Jets with Mangini telling the Salt Lake Tribune that the trade is "the right thing for us and for Braylon." In return, the Browns acquired receiver Chansi Stuckey, linebacker Jason Trusnik and two undisclosed draft choices. Braylon Edwards is currently in his fifth season with the NFL. Edwards started off his football career at the University of Michigan, where he played from 2001-2004. During his time with the Wolverines, he set season records for the team for receptions and yards. He won the Fred Biletnikoff Award and was named the Big Ten Conference MVP. As his college football career came to a close, Edwards strived to end on a high note. He succeeded in doing so when he scored three touchdown catches in the 2005 Rose Bowl against Texas.

After his college career, Edwards advanced to the NFL and was selected in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. He began his rookie season as the team's third wide receiver and made his official NFL debut on the field when the Browns met the Cincinnati Bengals on September 11 of that year. His first touchdown occurred against the Green Bay Packers a couple of weeks later. He amassed 512 receiving yards and three touchdowns during the season, but was set back due to a knee injury.

Edwards managed to make a full recovery before the start of the 2006 season and he subsequently became a top receiver for the Browns. The following year proved to be his career breakout when he made his first Pro Bowl. He broke franchise records with 1,289 receiving yards. 2008, however, was a down year for both the team and for Edwards, who dropped 16 passes.

Now that Edwards has transferred teams, eyes will be trained on his strengths and weaknesses on the field and his behavior off of it. During practices, Edwards has maintained that things are going well, noting that, "I feel pretty confident." But it's Jets fans who will be watching closely as Edwards makes plays on the field this time around. Last season was not one of his best, but if fans can look towards his impressive 2007 season they might just be welcoming him with open arms.
