Nissan India Posts 155 Per Cent Growth In The Month Of June

The Indian arm of the Japanese auto maker, Nissan Motors India has recorded growth

of staggering 155.3 per cent in the month of June by selling 4,167 units. In the same period last year the company managed to sell around 1,632 units. The growth has been possible due to the company's new model, Nissan Sunny sedan and compact hatchback Nissan Micra. These two cars are manufactured in India only at the company's manufacturing facility which it shares with the French car maker Renault located in the suburbs of Chennai. As these two cars are produced in India only therefore the price of these cars is tagged competitively.

Nissan Sunny is a much popular model than Nissan Micra and ever since the introduction of the sedan in India specially the diesel version, the sales have started soaring every month. Nissan Sunny sedan and Nissan Micra together accounted for a total of 4,157 units in the total monthly sales of the Japanese auto maker. However its sports utility vehicle Nissan X-Trail and its premium sedan Nissan Teana along with the sports car Nissan 370z accounted for the rest of the sales. The Managing Director of Nissan Motors India, Mr. Ishida Takayuki said that the Indian economy and the domestic car market both have been witnessing tough time of late, but despite this slowdown, the company has managed to register good amount of sale for the last few months.

The growth witnessed in the month of June 2012 could be attributed to the lucrative and newly introduced consumer offering of low EMIs. The company is also gearing up for the launch of its new car in India, Nissan Evalia. This is a yet another MPV which would be launched in India by the month of October or November. The MPV would be manufactured at the company's manufacturing facility which it shares with the French car maker, Renault located in Chennai.

Nissan Sunny is a highly selling model from the clan of Nissan India, one of the reasons behind the success of Nissan Sunny is its affordable price. Nissan Sunny Price in India starts at Rs 5.93 lakhs for the base version of the petrol variant and goes up to Rs 8.93 lakhs for the high end version of the diesel version. Nissan Sunny is doing pretty well in the entry level sedan segment while giving a tough competition to other cars in the same segment like Toyota Etios sedan, Mahindra Verito sedan, Hyundai Accent, Maruti Swift Dzire, Tata Indigo sedan and Ford Fiesta Classic.

Rumours were doing the rounds of late that the company is pondering to launch automatic version of Nissan Sunny sedan in India soon. The petrol trim of the sedan comes packed with 1498cc engine while the diesel version is armed with a 1461 cc engine. The petrol version of the sedan offers a good fuel economy with 13 kmpl of fuel economy in the city conditions while 16.9 kmpl on highways. On the other hand the diesel variant of the sedan offers a fuel efficiency of 17.5 kmpl in city conditions while it runs 21.6 kmpl on highways.
