Norah Jones Tickets - Jones Proving Versatility In Latest Tour
A decade after she entered the music industry
, Norah Jones is still creating some of the best, original music for loyal fans and new ones alike. Jones became famous for her soulful voice that is reminiscent of singers of the 1940s and 1950s, but also because of her talent on the piano and now the guitar. Her voice has incredible range and her music is a combination of country, pop, and jazz music, all fused into one cohesive combination that is simply delightful. Since her award-winning album, Come Away with Me, dropped in 2002, Norah Jones has released four other albums that have all been successful, including her latest record, Little Broken Hearts. Jones even appeared in a starring role in the film in 2007. Through her rise to fame, Norah Jones tickets have sold well because she has not strayed from her humbleness and she continues to create music that is compelling and that tells a story.
Becoming a Star
Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1979, Norah Jones is actually the daughter of Ravi Shankar, a prominent Indian sitar player. While she was born in Brooklyn, she grew up in Texas with her mother. Throughout her childhood, Jones not only joined the choir but picked out music that most people her age were not listening to, including Billie Holiday and Bill Evans. Also during her childhood, Jones won Best Original Composition (1996) and Best Jazz Vocalist (1996 and '97) at the music awards program held at the Interlochen Center for the Arts. Jones also took piano lessons while attending church and singing in the choir - all skills she would later utilize to produce some of the best music in the world.
Later in life, Jones performed with the UNT Jazz Singers while attending the University of North Texas where she majored in jazz piano. It was there that she met several people that would help her grow her interests in making music professionally, most importantly Jesse Harris. Harris would send Jones sheet music and in 1999, Jones left for New York City to follow her passion.
Soon after arriving in New York City, Norah Jones was signed the EMI Group-owned Blue Note Records. To get a feel for her sound, the record company placed Jones with a jazz group and together they recorded First Sessions in 2001, an album comprised of nine demo tracks. Before becoming a recording artist, Jones was mostly a jazz lounge singer. But having performed with the likes of Charlie Hunter, Peter Malick, and Wax Poetic helped Jones become the singer she is today. Come Away with Me was released in 2002 and became almost an instant success with the chart topping single "Don't Know Why".
With Little Broken Hearts, Jones has made a big departure from the type of music she has recorded in the past. However, she maintains her personal vocal styling and instead has infused musical styles from artists like Danger Mouse and Daniele Luppi. This new move has only helped to grow her fan base and show the world just how talented Jones really is, no matter what she's singing.
