Srinagar: Normal life in Indian Kashmir was again disrupted as it observed yet another shutdown in response to a call given by hardline Syed Ali Shah Geelani led Hurriyat (G).
Authorities, however, imposed curfew in Delina and Palhallan-two of the most sensitive towns of the valley- of North Kashmir's Baramulla district.
"As a precautionary measure, curfew was imposed in Delina and Pattan," a police officer told Agence India Press adding that no curfew was imposed in rest of the valley as authorities, according to him, felt that normalcy was limping back to the valley.
While public transport in Srinagar and major towns of Valley remained off the roads, private offices shops and business establishment remained closed.
Private vehicles, eyewitnesses said, plied on the roads uptown areas of the city. Schools and government offices marked a good attendance of their respective employees.
As part of its Quit Kashmir' campaign, Hurriyat (G) has been announcing protest cum strike schedule for last five months or so against Indian occupation' and civilian killings during the' tumultuous' period.
Kashmir has witnessed one of its high voltage summers of last twenty years as people have protested and observed shutdowns for a major chunk of five months, authorities, on their part, have come down heavily on protesters by imposing curfew and detaining many of them.
111 civilian lives have been consumed allegedly in police and paramilitary action thus far.
No major violence related was reported on Thursday.
Meanwhile, a pale of gloom descended on Leharwalapora village of Bandipora as one of its residents, Shahzada Begum, wife of Sajad Ahmad Dar died in mysterious circumstances.
Shahzada, whose in-laws maintained that she committed suicide, was brought to Bandipora hospital in an unconscious state where doctors referred her to Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical sciences, Srinagar.
Mohammad Maqbool Dar of Watlab Ghat, Bandipora, Shazada's father has accused has accused her in-laws and husband of killing his daughter by beating her.
Police Station, Bandipora has already started an investigation in this regard and ordered for a post mortem of the dead body.
Hurriyat (G), as per its new protest cum strike calendar, issued 8th this month has asked people to resume their routine work tomorrow and stage one hour long peaceful protests after Friday prayers. (AIP)
