North Little Rock has more than it's Quota of Churches

North Little Rock is a quaint little town in the state of Arkansas. It emerged as a town of approximate 8,000 people after the merger of the town of Argenta and Little Rock and was then named as North Little Rock. Streetcars still ply the streets, adding to the charm of the city. Burns Park, one of United States biggest park is located in North Little Rock.

Churches are aplenty in North Little Rock. All major denominations have their churches here. And, so do some exotic and obscure churches. Catholic churches outnumber the other churches. One Catholic Church that is quite a landmark is "Immaculate Conception Catholic Church". It holds daily masses and especially on Sundays there are 3 masses held. "Lakewood United Methodist church" is among one of the foremost protestant churches located here.

All churches have children's ministries and the services they provide greatly vary from one another. Even the youths and teenagers take part in church-related activities. By taking look at the total number of attendees for a church activity, one can decide how popular that particular church is.

A small town population may not be in the same league as a large city in the matter of marriage counseling. But there is a strong presence of Christian counseling in North Little Rock. There are a number of child care services among which the most famous one is the "Little Peoples Child Development center" which is affiliated to the "First Baptist church". Its caption succinctly but very properly says "Little People are People too". "Little people" are given all the care and kept busy with games and plays, all the while undergoing their respective therapy.

Counselors try to convince teenagers through Biblical lessons and teach them about the inter-relation of these lessons with people and how they live, irrespective of the time they live in. They are made to understand how they can treat Christ as a friend and He can still be relevant in the time of permissiveness. They are made to think of Jesus as some one they can look up to when they think that their life is hopelessly irredeemable and seek his benevolence. The generation gap too takes its toll and many parents do not know how to deal with a rebellious ward. A patient hearing on the part of the Christian counselor, more often than not, results in understand dawning on both the parents and the children.

Married couples on the verge of breaking up are guided through the maze of human foibles that grow into giant chasms. Through counseling the teachings in the Bible are applied to their lives and then they get back together again. But, if it is seen that a patch-up is neither really possible nor advisable, the couple are given the best advice to lead their new life without their partners. Divorce is seen only as a last resort. After all, God had said: "Whom had God joined, man must not divide".
