, Nick Tate in an article published in The Australian on Wednesday 11 September states that IT training is at a crossroads. Nick believes that the national curriculum in ICT needs to be improved but he doesnt necessarily believe that the curriculum should be changed to make graduates more work-ready. Nick quotes a recent survey of employers in which 70 percent thought that graduates were not work-ready, but goes on to say that it may be better for graduates to receive training through coaching and mentoring from senior practitioners on the job, rather than to expect schools and institutions to provide that type of training.

The last thing that students want to hear is that when they finish the course there is yet another hurdle in their path that they must overcome if they are to find gainful employment in their chosen career.
