Now That's Weird
I and my wife booked a sedan in Dallas, TX for our Dallas airport service. We were excited to attend the third wedding of my wife's brother. We used my brother-in-law's credit card in paying the fee. It was quite affordable considering they were limo services in Forth Worth. Yes, we hired two Dallas limousine service. The other one was among the good-looking wedding limos Dallas services for brother's wedlock.
Then out of nowhere, something snapped inside my wife's brain. She remembered a superstition that cost someone else's marriage. Her first marriage. She recalled that his brother used her credit card to book a Manhattan limo service to pick them up at the airport. My wife instructed him to get her and her former fianc (pfft) their very own limo service. Seven months before the wedding, the limos were set to ride in style. Eight weeks before the actual wedding, my wife discovered that Mr. Fianc was having an affair with an officemate.
So the wedding was off. Technically, she was not married but weeks before the actual wedding, our family considered her married.
After my wife recalled this, everything was set. Sure, we could have cancelled the service and get a refund but we I was arguing with her about superstition. She said it's her bro's wedding. I said it must concern logic. That prevented her from talking to me for couple of hours. That deprived me of a supposed-to-be sizzling night. Never measure a woman's intellect negatively. Your happiness is at stake.
She did not call up the service to be cancelled. Months passed and the wedding was in three days. Everything was okay. Then, in its very weirdest instance, my wife's brother found out something. His soon-to-be-wife was once married and currently a divorcee. Apparently, the bride failed to tell this to her future husband. The superstition seemed to be working. My wife looked at me. I bowed my head and slowly back off.
Well, everything was fixed in the end. The groom widened his open-mindedness to accept a lie or secret kept in four years. They still married each other somewhere in Vegas. That was a relief.
I guess superstitions are guesses. Like forecasting which only involves winds, we make our own predictions based on past material experiences based upon abstraction. Unlike forecasting which only involves winds, superstitions are working only because of instinct and not with scientific methods.
