Nursing Career Goals - How High Can They Take You?

For some people when thinking about a nursing career

, all they see are bed pans and sponge baths. Others see opportunities to work with doctors, side by side, in the surgical theater, and others see it as an opportunity to help a lot of people who really appreciate their efforts. Regardless of which way you look at it, nurses are in high demand everywhere and the nursing career outlook is as bright as you want it to be.

Some see nursing as a job where the end result is a paycheck. And the pay for nurses is quite good, whether you're an RN or an LPN. While others take it as a mission to help those in need regardless of pay. And with the opportunities to work as a nurse abroad, helping those in third world countries and in war torn areas all around the world, it is a daily event helping those in desperate need, and the pay can be fantastic.

While the demand for nurses in the US will always be high, the demand for nurses overseas is extraordinary. Over half the jobs available abroad are for nurses of all skill levels. Regardless of where you want to work, whether its in some exotic locale like Africa or Afghanistan, or in a white, sterile hospital in the States, you'll never be without a job. Neither will you be without situations where you'll have a positive impact on someone's life.

We all want to be a part of something bigger, but to have an influential impact on the bigger picture. We want to be a part of making life better for as many people as possible. While we may not have a desire to work overseas where the need is at its sharpest, the need for good, well trained nurses is just as sharp in the US. Being able to affect someone's life in a positive manner doesn't require going out of the country.

Being a nurse can bring new and exciting challenges everyday. Finding ways to do things to help those in our care means we have to treat each person as a person. Most people appreciate the efforts of good nurses who want to help them. It isn't just all about the money. It's about the people we meet and how we can change their lives for the better.
