Oil Paintings: Abstract Art Vs Modern Art

When it comes to art, we all have different ways of appreciating it and each of us

are bound to have our own unique tastes so it is crucial that we are able to have the pieces that we relate to most strongly. Anyone that would like to get into art will certainly find that out of all the types of art out there, oil paintings are the best objects to focus on starting a collection with because they are so easy to deal with. There are many schools of art out there now, but two classic types of oil paintings that people love to collect are abstract and modern works of art. While both of these schools of painting are different, they have similar places in history's timeline of Western art, being important in both North America and Europe, as well. Every art love will have a different view, but we can see more of what these movements offer us if we do a little bit to understand what they are all about in terms of their value to art.

Art that looks incredible is the key goal for any of us, but we do what we can to educate ourselves on that art, we will see that the paintings we decide on can be even more meaningful to us. Most modern art ends up being from the 20th century, more or less, and this includes all sorts of styles and subjects, from flowers to buildings and even famous people of that period. Modern art's arrival on the scene ended up with it celebrating a lot of the inventions of its era, showing us things with less realism than Renaissance works, but plenty of emotional impact and solid conceptual drawing behind most of the pieces. Works of abstract art are striving to break down the images they cover so that we can get more out of the aspects of that image such as shapes, colors and themes. The value of abstract art is that it can add a totally different feel than what you get from a representational image that is 'instructing' you what to see.

If you are looking to get more from the paintings in your collection, it will make a big difference if you actually learn about the movements in art down through history. All it takes is a little bit of time to educate yourself on what all sorts of art are out there now and you will come to realize that you can use paintings to provide yourself with real value.
