Doors should not just be made out of glass. Glass can be broken. If you have do need to have glass doors use re-enforced glass. Most glass doors now are made with special formulas to make it hard to break down. While there is a chance it can still be broken to get inside, it has less chance than older glass doors.

Windows can also be made out of re-enforced glass. Older glass won't be as thick or as secure as newer windows. Consider replacing the windows with stronger glass.

Locks need to be up to date as well. Look around your home and see what the current locks look like. Look at what age the locks are. You want to replace any rusted locks, as rust can compromise the integrity of the lock.

Old locks can easily be broken. The reason is that they generally get weaker over time. Remember to especially look for locks on the front and back door entrances, and the windows of your home.

Another thing to consider, if you are moving in to an older home, is that the previous owners may still have copies of keys to those locks. You have no idea how many others may have keys to them as well. It is always a good idea to re-install new locks when moving in to a new home.
