On Eliot Spitzer, Ted Kennedy & why we need reform of the legal system

What happened to Elliot Spitzer is an object lesson in spiritual law: what goes around comes around. Spitzer lived by the Old Testament system of justice and punishment. As a prosecutor, he accused people for their sins; he has been accused by the same system he served. Justice would be getting what he deserves. But he doesn't need justice; he needs mercy and grace. It says in the New Testament in Math 7:1 Judge not lest ye be judged.
The New Testament has a better covenant than the Old Testament; it promises forgiveness for, rather than judgment for sins. Mat 6:15
Jesus said if you don't forgive people their sins against you God won't forgive you yours.
Jeremiah 31:31 prophesied a new covenant to replace the Mosaic covenant, which God says the people broke. It says "I will forgive their sins.
Ted K is an example of the difference between the 2 covenants: if he had been found guilty at Chappaquiddick and sentenced to years in prison, it would have been a waste of his potential. Instead, in God's sovereignty he was allowed to continue with his life - his guilt motivated him to do good with his life and he has served his country as an esteemed senator for years. This has benefitted him and the country more than if he had sat in jail.
Other people who have made mistakes in their lives and who are in jail deserve no less grace than Ted K; we need to forgive people their sins and let them do good with their lives. One reason people repeat crimes is because when they are found guilty by the legal system it puts a spirit of condemnation over them - a curse - which causes them to repeat crimes, or at least to be re-accused even if they are innocent. That is exactly what Jesus came to set us free from - our past.
There needs to be a radical change in our courts: let there be ministers on duty all the time who are available to pray with the defendants to repent of their sins and be forgiven. Then let the judges drop the charges and release them to be under the wings of the ministers who will hold them accountable as new disciples. This will give them the support they need to change. Since there is no record of our wrongs in Heaven once we have accepted Christ, let the records here be wiped clean as well.
Jesus' blood was the atonement for all our sins - he paid the price so we don't have to. By accepting him as our saviour, that entitles us to have our sins forgiven - the record is wiped clean. When we stand before God on judgment day, the devil, who is the accuser, will stand there to accuse us for our sins, just like the prosecuting attorney. If we have accepted Jesus, he will defend us, saying "his sins are erased by my blood - the devil has no right to accuse him" and we will be justified, by Jesus, before God. That is the best deal anyone can possibly ask for. Justice is getting what you deserve. Mercy is not getting what you deserve. Grace is getting what you don't deserve; unmerited favor. The forgiveness of sins offered by God through Jesus Christ is grace; it is freely given; it cannot be earned. The gospel of John says, "The law came by Moses but grace and truth come by Jesus Christ." John 1:17
The Gospel of John tells us who Jesus is theologically:
John 1:1 "in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God"
"And the word was made flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory as of the only begotten of the father, full of grace and truth." l:14
l John 5:7 says There are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit and these 3 are 1."
So Jesus was a part of God - his title, as given in the gospel of Luke l:35 is "Son of God" -he was God in the flesh and his role on earth was to be an atonement for our sins, and to resurrect to show us there will be a resurrection for all.
TO BE SAVED:
Accept Jesus as your savior, messiah. Repent of your sins. Ask God to fill you with the Holy Spirit.
1John 1:9 "if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Romans 10:9: " if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
Be baptized.
Jesus said "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the father and the son and the Holy Ghost." Math 28:19
Jesus said, "He who believes and is baptized will be saved: but he who does not believe will be condemned." Mark 16:16
Acts 2:38: Peter said, "Repent and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus for the remission of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
